Owned

We did it! As of yesterday, no more monthy checks to Regions!

All credits to this man. He knows a thing or two about saving.

He also knows a thing or two about being a humble and hard worker. And for that, I am thankful.

August

Better late than never! First up, an action-packed trip to the Big Apple where we went to some pubs that Brent had scouted out, went to a Yankee's game, saw the Lion King and went to the Jewelry and Accessories Show for Lavish. Then we ended the month with a week-long stay in High Hampton where we played outside from sun-up until sun-down, ate way too much in the dining hall, then slept like babies at night! I am already looking forward to our 2011 High Hampton trip and I bet I can already give you a pretty exact itenerary for the week! And must not forget our North Carolina trip started with a weekend at the Cobb's house in Highland's and a birthday weekend in Atlanta. Whew...

Updating the blogo has not been easy, so I am going to simplify it's content! Copying what daddy did for 20 years (1984-2004) I am going to try to write a paragraph (or sentence) and possibly attach a photo (most likely from my iphone) daily. This will probably be boring for any readers, but fun for us down the road!

Wednesday 7.27.10

We drank our first pot of coffee from our peculator (daddy influences us in so many ways!) then completed an hour and half of yoga (or as we call it, "yoger"). Typically the "boring"day of P90x for me, but the caffeine in my blood made it a bit more bearable, then cleaned up the house (just in case Charlie came in to hang our mirror... don't want him to see how we really live).

Got off work early to get my hair-did in the city. After work we went to mommy and daddy's for ping-pong and we lingered until they invited us for dinner:) Boy, are they going to miss Charles when he goes off to Chipola.

Summer Parties

Here lately we've had a lot to celebrate!

Katie and Scott are about to have a baby, Tara and Garrison are getting married, and we love being a part of all of the excitement!

I just couldn't resist rolling down the window for a picture of this family cruising down the road at 9 am on the 4th of July. I have a feeling they really get into Halloween!

posh puppy

I know, Curtis is cute enough alone, but he sure would look dapper in a seersucker bow tie! Handmade collars from Pecan Pie Puppies.
The boy will be turning 5 this summer!

Summer Recipe #1: Chicken Picatta

The high-tech-thingymadoodle is out and we have a stove! So I am back on my goal of trying one new recipe a week. Since Katie is out of town, and Scott is bacheloring it, we had him over for chicken picatta. Very easy to make and hit the spot, so here's the recipe:

1/4 cup water
3 Tablespoons Butter
1 Tablespoon Flour (we used 2 T)
1 Teaspoon Seasoned Salt (we added a little bit more)
1 Large Zip-lock bag
4 thin chicken breast cutlets (about 1 lb)
1 Tablespoon Capers (we used about 3 because some fall off)
1/2 Lemon (we used a full lemon... I like it zesty)

1. Place flour and seasoned salt in zip-lock bag, shake to mix. Add chicken and shake to coat...only need a thin layer on the chicken.
2. Preheat large saute pan on medium-high 2-3 minutes. Add 2 Tablespoons of the butter, swirl to coat. Add chicken, cook 5 minutes.
3. Turn chicken. Stir in capers, half the lemon juice, another Tablespoon of butter, and 1/4 cup of water. Cook 2-3 minutes or until sauce begins to thicken. Squeeze more lemon juice on top if you would like and it is ready to serve!

Year of the Alligators

The annual Summer Playzure Camp came to an end on Sunday,
making it the 29th summer camp for the the Schulz cousins.
Summer just isn't the same without it.
I was never a big fan of arts and crafts,
but I sure do miss ten days of playing cards every night,
afternoons on the the deck of the swamp, swimming in Daffins Lake,
good meals every night, and being with my cousins.
I have a feeling Brent would have loved it!

Downtown

On our way home from Mexico Beach and stopped in Appalachicola for an ice cream cone and I found some perfect fitting running shorts at this fine shop:

Loved their galvonized buckets and wildflowers. Oftly trendy for a fisherman's town!

After Carolyn and Todd's wedding, we stayed around Asheville. Not too impressed with the shopping but atleast we had a decent breakfast, great coffee (my guess, Illy) and wonderful conversation alfreso!

And in both towns, we resisted the chains and shopped and ate local. So much better, anyways!
